San Francisco - Day 2

On our second day, we got up early and headed to the cable car again.

We rented bikes and a trailer to ride across the Golden Gate bridge.  Owen didn't love it at first, but he was happy when we stopped for a snack.

It was foggy on the bridge.

Bright and sunny on the other side!

By the time we made it to the end of the day, we had ridden 20 miles and were exhausted waiting for the ferry back across the bay.  It was a fun (tiring) day.

Riding the ferry.

Owen and Wes checking out the view on our crossing.

San Francisco - Day 1

I had a work conference in San Francisco in early October.  So, we packed the family up to spend the week there.

Riding in a taxi to the airport

Tante YaYa came to meet up there!  Here we are at the cable car.

Still waiting for the cable car...

Riding up the hills of San Fran!

On Pier 39

Our little family on the pier - Owen was excited!

Heading back toward the hotel.

We stopped at a fun little park along the way.

This is where we got food for our picnic in the park.

A beautiful glass store we passed near the hotel.  Rachel and YaYa had so much fun together.

Utopiafest

We Utopiafest was fun this year as usual.

When we arrived on Friday, it was rainy.  Rachel was excited to use her pink umbrella and new boots.

The next day, it turned out nicer than expected.  Rachel got to use her new boots to play in the mud.

Owen loved running around everywhere.

Owen also loved seeing so many people.  He looks so serious with GranDave.

Owen loved the new toy that Mimi brought for him.

Rachel loved hers too!  It was nice to have something that kept them sitting still for a little while.

Rachel was excited that we got to toast marshmallows.

Mandy came all the way down from Michigan! Kristen and Daniel made it this year, too.  It was great to see all of them.

People had to take turns following Owen around - he just wanted to wander around and check things out as much as possible.

We saw Travis when we went to help clean up on Sunday morning.

We had a great lunch at Granny's house before getting on the road back home.

Rachel and Owen enjoyed picking up pecans in Granny's yard.

Galveston Triathlon

In September, we also spent some time in Galveston to watch Wes complete an Olympic distance triathlon. We spent lots of time in the pool there as well.

Both kids love swimming!

Owen doesn't even complain that I make him wear a hat.

He does not love being on his back.

He does love swimming on his own and being silly.

Both kids love pizza.

We shared some breakfast while Wes got ready to start.

Finishing the swim

Waiting for Daddy to race

Nothing was open at Moody Gardens, so we just wandered around inside a bit.

After the race

Swimming one more time before heading home.  Rachel loved jumping off of the little island on her own.
