Summer time is here!

We have been enjoying summer so far this June!

Owen has definitely been more interested in the pool this year.

Here are the kids and Wes at the Y.

Rachel enjoyed splashing with Daddy.

Hungry kids having dinner on the patio.

Owen loves beans!

They both love playing with the water table.  Owen is drenched because Rachel sprayed him with the hose - he thought it was hilarious.

Unfortunately, our yard is plagued with mosquitoes and they attached Owen's face.  He has since recovered.

Memorial Day Weekend

We went east for the long Memorial Day weekend.  We all had a great time visiting Oma and Opa in Mandeville.  Even Tante YaYa was there to enjoy the fun.  We missed seeing Uncle Richard, Aunt Dana and sweet Mia but we look forward to seeing them soon.

Oma and Opa had some fun birthday presents ready for the kids.

Both of them enjoyed having Oma help open them.

As has become our custom, we took a bike ride to the splash pad at the Trailhead and enjoyed snoballs before heading home.

Owen had his first taste of snoball and declared it yummy.

Owen has been doing lots of practicing at standing up and walking with help.

He also loves to play with his new toys.

Tante YaYa is so funny when she makes car sounds.

Having been one for almost a week, Owen decided it was about time he started eating more substantial foods.  He really enjoyed his first taste of Oma's lasagna.

We got to celebrate YaYa's birthday while we were there!  Rachel enjoyed having cake and ice cream - but not in the same bowl (she was very firm on this point).

Hulahoops!

Rachel talked YaYa into running through the sprinklers in the backyard.

Owen had such sweet smiles for his Oma.

We also enjoyed a tea party on the back patio.

Yum!

Owen like playing in the grass.

Happy boy with YaYa and more food to eat.

Our little family on the lake front while on another bike ride.

Daddy and Owen

Rachel is very convincing.  She talked YaYa into going into the splash pad with her - YaYa does not take much arm twisting.

Of course, snoballs were had by all.
We had a very southern lunch of chicken (baked, not fried), potato salad and watermelon.  Delicious!

Owen loved his chicken and strawberries.

He also loved hanging out with his Opa.

More May

Here are a few random pictures of things we did in May.

Here is Rachel washing some strawberries with Raquel.  Note that she insisted on wearing a party hat and leg warmers.

We had a fun trip to the zoo.  It was pretty hot, but not unbearable.

Drums!!

One of the most exciting parts was riding the carousel.

A giraffe had lunch right next to us.

We have also tried out some new restaurants around town.  This italian place had yummy gelato.  Granny sent this cute dress for her birthday.  She loves it and asked to wear it everyday for at least a week.

Happy First Birthday Owen!

To celebrate Owen's very first birthday, we had some of our friends over for wine and cheese.

Here is the crew and the aftermath of our delicious dining experience.

Owen was really not sure what to make of the festivities.

Rachel was ready in full birthday mode.

Owen did eventually catch on and enjoyed his first carrot cake.

Such a big boy!

It was not the fanciest cake, but it was tasty so he was happy with it :).

On Sunday, Rachel helped open presents.

She also worked hard to convince him of how much fun his new sandbox was.

He remained unconvinced so she got to play in there alone for awhile.

After nap time, he was slightly easier to persuade.  He was willing to sit in there with her.

Eventually, he even smiled.  Of course, it was not at the camera. Maybe next time.
