Easter Weekend (Part Deux)

Because we were on the west side of town at the farm, we decided to check out a brewery in Katy to finish off our Saturday outing.  They had a really big area to sit in and a live band.  We were not fully prepared as we did not bring chairs but we had a nice time nonetheless.

Relaxing in the shade of the silos.

The kids needed some electronic distraction to help them sit still because they were starting to get tired.  They did really well and let us enjoy tasting the beers and having a little picnic.

When Henry woke up and started to fuss a little, Owen rocked him right back to sleep.  Such a sweet big brother.

Snoozer.

Wes enjoyed tasting the different beers they had to offer (except the jalapeno one - that was not as good).

Still snoozing and looking super cute (in my entirely unbiased opinion).

On Easter Sunday morning, Henry made his first trip to church and fell sound asleep during the service.  We are thankful that he handled it so well.

Owen was just happy they did not run out of donuts after church.

After we got home from church (we went to the 8:00am service), the kids got to check out their Easter baskets.  They got lots of fun things from the Easter bunny and from all of their grandparents.  Thank you Grammy, GranDave, Mimi, Oma and Opa for sending such lovely gifts!

After that, we had another egg hunt in the yard.  This time the eggs were well hidden (thanks to Wes) so Owen needed a little assistance in finding them.

Rachel did a great job of searching the yard for eggs.  She loves to hunt for them.

Henry was actually awake to watch his big sister and brother hunting for eggs.

After that, Rachel and Owen wanted to try out their new bubble bucket that the Easter bunny brought.  Bubble time was the closest we got to good pictures in their Easter outfits.  Maybe next year we we'll do better :).

After bubbles, they tried out their new sand shovels.

Fun times in the sand box.

Henry and Wes enjoyed watching the bigger kids play.

Sand box time almost always leads to water table time.

Water table time also always leads to half naked children playing with the hose.  We had a really nice time enjoying this Easter Sunday as a family.  We are once again reminded that we are truly blessed.  We hope that all of you blog readers out there had a wonderful and blessed Easter as well.

Easter Weekend (Part 1)

We had some nice weather for Easter weekend and we made the best of it.

We started bright and early Saturday morning with an Easter egg hunt at our favorite garden store. Owen and Rachel were very excited (mostly Rachel).

Henry slept.

Finding lots of eggs.

Distracted by a fountain.

I tried to get them to smile.  Rachel decided to be an Easter chocolate pirate instead.

Owen loves to be just like his sister!

Next, we headed to the west side of town to a strawberry farm.  They had some chickens to hold so we checked them out.  At first, Rachel said she did not want to touch the chickens but she ended up doing a really good job holding them.

Henry slept (although he did get hungry shortly after this picture and ate)

They also had a sand mountain with a slide that the kids really enjoyed.

Big boy at the bottom of the tunnel slide.

Rachel also slid straight down the hill.

They are getting so tall!

We are pretty sure Rachel and Owen weigh about the same at this point.  He is still about 6 inches shorter.

Strawberry picking (actually cutting - they provided scissors).

Rachel did a great job.

She even let Owen throw some in the bucket even though he did not get to use the scissors.

Enjoying the fruits of her labor.

The little train ride was fun as well.

Of course, the farm had a tractor.

Not quite big enough to take it for a drive.

Rachel's "Spring" Egg Hunt

Rachel had an egg hunt today at school.  She has been looking forward to it all week and was very excited when the time finally came.

Walking out with the bag she decorated.

Getting instructions - they could each get 15 eggs.

And they are off...

Rachel was in the first of three groups to hunt (because she is one of the youngest in class), so there were plenty of eggs to find.

Sitting nicely to have her eggs counted.

Snack time!

Yummy :)
