Mardi Gras Parade and Meeting Cousin Mia

We drove over to Louisiana last weekend to enjoy some Mardi Gras festivities and to finally meet my brother's sweet baby girl Mia.  It was a really fun weekend.  We spent a lot of time outside thanks to the perfect weather.

On Friday night, we had a picnic dinner at my mom's school and then played on the playground before watching the Eve parade go by.

Rachel had fun sharing her dinner with Oma

There were lots of fun things to do on the playground

 Wes got to play, too

Rachel was not quite sure what to think when all of the noise of the parade started.  She soon was enjoying the music and waving her hands at the floats.

Rachel caught all kinds of fun things - she got lots of beads, a stuffed doggy and a pink boa that Opa held for her.

She enjoyed playing with her loot when we got home.

On Saturday morning, Wes went on a 40-mile training ride on the Tammany Trace.  We met him at the end at the Abita Brew Pub.  It turned out that there was a parade in Abita Springs that morning so Rachel got to enjoy her second parade.

After lunch, we went to Richard and Dana's house to finally meet sweet cousin Mia and visit with the new parents.

Rachel was very happy to meet Mia.  Soon she will be old enough to run around and play with Rachel.

I enjoyed spending time with Mia as well - she is so tiny!  Oma loved having both her grandchildren together in one house for the first time.

On Sunday, we let Rachel run around as much as possible at the playground before we got back on the road.  It was a gorgeous day to be outside.

Opa preferred to sit instead of running around so Rachel took a little break with him.

Oma helped Rachel play on all the fun toys.

Rachel even got to play some music for us.
